Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2004

This was my second 21.1 km half marathon attempt and quite happy to complete in 2 hours 11 minutes 43 seconds. It was a well organized and fully road blocked events and had a very nice personalized timed Certificate of Participation.

Mizuno Wave Run 2004


I've completed the 10 km competitive run in 50 minutes. The certificate of participation was even furnished with my running photo. This was one of the risky run with no road blocks and the runners were on their own to cross the road themselves.

This is the inaugural Mizuno wave run held at Kovan Hub (Hougang Street 21) on Sunday, 21st November 2004 @ Kavan Hub.

The registration fee was S$8 only.

Swissotel Vertical Marathon

This is my first vertical marathon attemp and managed to complete 73 storeys comprising of 1336 steps in 12 minutes 52 seconds.

Singapore Johore 2nd link Bridge Run 2004

This is my third public run. I've achieved my PB (personal best) of 44 minutes (speed was 13.64 km/h or pace was 4 minutes 24 seconds) .

Few days after the event, the organizer admitted the actual distance was 9.5 km, so my adjusted time was 46 minutes and 18.9 seconds (speed was 12.95 km/h or pace was 4 minutes 38 seconds).

The Singapore-Johor 2nd Link Bridge 2004 will be held on Sunday, 10 October 2004 at Tuas West Road and the 2nd Link (Malaysia-Singapore Second Crossing).

The main objectives of this annual event are to foster closer bilateral relations between Singapore and Malaysia
through sports.

Some 8,000 participants from Singapore, Malaysia and other countries are expected. The main activities will consist of a competitive 10km race, and a non-competive 10km Fun Run. There will also be stage entertainment, lucky draw as well as attractive prizes and goodie bags to be given away.

The Guests-of-Honour are Mr Chan Soo Sen, Minister of State for Education and Community Development and Sports, and Y.A.B Dato' Haji Abdul Ghani Bin Othman, Menteri Besar of Johor.

This event will be jointly organised by Singapore Sports Council (SSC), Ministry of Community Development and Sports, Southwest Community Development Council and the Singapore Amateur Athletic Association.

Sheares Bridge Run and Army Half Marathon 2004

This is my second public run after Nike Real Run and my first 21 km half marathon attempt. Managed to complete the Men's Veteran 21.5 km Half Marathon in 2 hours 15 minutes 16 seconds (speed was 9.54 km/h or pace was 6 minutes 17.5 seconds).

Start Point : Esplanade Bridge
End Point: Padang

For the first time, the Sheares Bridge Run and Army Half Marathon will be flagged off at Esplanade Bridge. With routes passing by the Central Business District area leading on to the Benjamin Sheares Bridge, runners can have the best scenic run in town.

Nike Real Run 2004 (10 km)

This was my very first run in public running event, since then running is my passion.

Before this run, I had never ran more than 5 km in my training. I did my two almost actual race route familiarization two weekends just before the actual race. Have completed my maiden run in 60 minutes (speed was 10 km/h or pace 6 minutes). The hardest part was the ran across about 3 km sand beach.


The hiccups were the paper-based race BIB torn after it got wet after 5 km run and need to held it in the hand and the collection of certificate of achievement for almost an hour.

Organised by the Singapore Police Association for National Servicemen, the REAL (Regular Exercise, Active Lifestyle) Run started in 1997 with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle among Police National Servicemen. The route, traversing over road, hill and sand was specially designed for this event.
