Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore (SCMS) 2012

The race started early at 5:00 am. Took the first train from Woodlands MRT at 3:24 am and reached Orchard MRT station around 4:05 am. After deposited my baggage at Angullia Carpark @ Orchard Rd. Did a brief warm up and headed to starting point about 30 minutes before the race and it was very crowded and unable to proceed further to the front. Found the stupid and unnecessary narrow gate control to limit sub 5 hours runners enter to the race pen.

Managed to achieved my full marathon PB (Personal Best) of 4 hour 16 minutes and 1.05 seconds for 42.195 km run. Endured the right toe blister started from 14 km onwards. Unable to keep up with 4:15 pacer and behind about 200 to 500 meters towards the end.

My time is 4.266958333 hours or  4 hours 16.017 minutes and out by 3 minutes (4.2195 hours or  4 hours 13.17 minutes) to achieve 6 minutes/km pace or 10 km/h speed.

Same as last two years, the bottleneck occurred around 37 km at ECP (East Coast Parkway) highway with many 10 and 21 km walkers. After a brief right leg cramped at 38 km and recovered and managed to sprint for the last 2 km around 10.5 km/h.

100PLUS PAssion Run 2012 (Saturday)

Newton Challenge 2012

The race started early at 5:30 am. Reached the starting point 10 minutes before the race and it was very crowded .

Managed to achieved about 2 hour 48 minutes for 30 km run. My right foot felt stiffed and cramped around 12 km. Removed the right sock at 14 km and felt better but suffered blister due to sands residue in the right shoe and put back the sock at 21 km u-turn point and endured the blister pain all the way to finishing line. Otherwise may shed another 5 to 10 minutes.

The weather was getting rather hot after 23 km.

The finishing treat really a feast to the runners with ample icy cold Pocari Sweat, bananas, water melons, ice cream, bean curd and icy cold tower.

With the new introduction of shuttle bus service from main MRT stations really helped to bring runners to the event venue much earlier. The departure time of 4:35 am was a bit late for 5:30 am run. Reached the venue 15 minutes before the race was really rush.

New Balance Real Run 2012

Nice and cool weather and the race started early at 6:30 am. With early 4:30 am shuttle bus, reached the venue around 5:20 am and able to start from few rows behind the starting line.

Managed to achieved about 1 hour 49 minutes for 21 km with worst trail and sand run. Bottle neck all the way before the beach to end point due to many 10 km walkers.

I lost my Polar foot pacer and from recorded data, it has lost around 40 meters after 40 meters during initial run.

Mizuno PAssion Wave Run 2012

Very hot weather with the race started at 7:30 am.

Managed to achieved about 1 hour 22 minutes for quite hilly 16 km.

Started around row 10 from the starting line and needed to stop at a number of traffic junctions that affected my timing.

SAFRA Singapore Bay Run & Army Half Marathon

Nice and cool weather with the race started early at 5:15 am.

Managed to achieved about 1 hour 49 minutes for this 21 km competitive run compared with last year's 2 hours.

They should provide more shuttle bus service from major MRT stations instead of a handful of Safra Clubs.

Advisory

“The Organising Committee of the SAFRA Singapore Bay Run and Army Half Marathon are monitoring the haze situation closely and will adhere to the latest advisory from the National Environment Agency.  Should the PSI value reach an unhealthy level of more than 100 by Saturday evening, the Organising Committee is prepared to cancel the event in view of the health and safety of participants. Participants will be duly notified if the event is cancelled.”

This annual mass running event is the largest in Singapore and jointly organised by SAFRA and The Army. The event comprises both the competitive 21-km half-marathon and 10-km routes. The social runners can participate in the non-competitive 5 km Fun Run as well.

The event aims to promote healthy lifestyle and reinforce SAFRA and the SAF’s emphasis on physical fitness. Over the years, participation has grown from 15,000 when it first started in 1992 to about 70,000 last year.

Participants will get to enjoy a unique route taking them over the new downtown around the Marina Bay area as well as pass historical places. Participants will also be entertained by the street side performances along the various running routes. The fun continues with stage performances at the end point carnival and complemented with various merchandise stalls offering promotional discounts on the wide range of sports related products.

As part of the celebrations for SAFRA 40th Anniversary and 45 years of National Service, the organisers will be planning activities to excite and engage participants. Be sure to keep a look out for it in the coming months!

RunNUS 2012

The race is 10 km but actual was 11 km according to many runners' GPS recording.

The weather is scorching hot with such a late start and managed to achieve about 53 minutes for 11 km run with many killing steep slopes.

This year run got lots of dissatisfaction feedback with about two weeks very long wait for run results publishing and only get to know your timing with your position without the total number of runners for respective category.

Really disappointing with photos coverage and still no official photos publishing after two weeks.

MR25 - 5K Time Trial

This is my first ever attempt on 5 Km time trial held at MacRitchie Reservoir on August 5, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Zig-zag Bridge of MacRitchie Reservoir, Singapore.

Managed to qualified in the slowest Snail category and just short of few seconds to be in Tortoise category. Has submitted the membership application with correspondence fees on the spot.

My last trail run was SIS Age Group Run 2012 - Series Two15 Km at MacRitchie Reservoir, Singapore on July 15, 2012.

This trail was killing with about 5 up/down slopes with two very steep slopes to and fro 2.5 Km u-turn point. The same starting/end point was quite warm and once in the trail felt quite cooling. The trail was crowded at certain locations with other non time trial runners and walkers otherwise may cut down few more precious seconds that may elevate me to next higher category. Anyway it was a good run and definitely will take the time trial again.

Saw one of the top Gurkha trained at this hilly trail.
